The Dichotomy of Ricky Williams and Michael Vick

By: George Grassrootz,

Much has been said about Michael Vick receiving yet another chance to  play by the rules laid down by the law of humanity, yet little has been brought up about the dichotomy of Ricky Williams, also  an elite professional football player who smoked marijuana and was treated like he killed a dog, or 20. Vick once again sports the elite professional football player moniker, even after serving prison time for being “man’s worst friend.”  The National Football League’s Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana and lost his $6 million-plus-per-year salary. In fact, Williams came back from a year-long, marijuana powered, trip around the world and faced the guillotine of the N.F.L. He was suspended, and only allowed to make the league veteran minimum of $375,000. Vick recently signed another $6.8 million contract, and was given yet another chance at playing by the rules. The N.F.L. is betting that Vick is going to be a  responsible human being. Gamblers are only right on bets about 33 percent of a time, this according to a Vegas insider. So, there currently is a 67 percent chance Vick will fail. With this uncertainity why, is Michael Vick being rewarded with a two-year $6.8 million contract by the N.F.L.’s Philadelphia Eagles? And… Why is Ricky Williams still walking the tightrope, clean from marijuana, staying out of trouble, yet being treated much worse than Vick, the former owner of Bad News Kennels?

What the heck is going on here?

I think the N.F.L. should have mandated that whoever took over Vick’s contract and well being, only pay Vick the league minimum and Williams should have been rewarded $5 million of the money auyctioned by Vick’s agent, go to Williams for being a model N.F.L. citizen since 2006.

How’s that for dichotomy?

Even the playing field so to speak.
